Acuario Water Filtration FAQs

How does Acuario’s system filter contaminants?

Acuario uses an advanced process called electrocoagulation to purify your water. This technology works by applying a low electric current to the water, which releases natural coagulants from metal plates inside the system. These coagulants bind to contaminants like heavy metals, chemicals, bacteria, and suspended solids, causing them to clump together so they can be easily filtered out.

What contaminants does the system remove?

Chlorine and PFA's (Forever chemicals). Sediment, rust, and dirt. Heavy metals like arsenic and lead. Pesticides, fluoride, nitrates, pharmaceuticals and bacteria.

Will the system lower my water pressure?

No — when installed correctly and sized properly, our systems maintain strong, consistent pressure. We take your home’s plumbing setup and water demand into account when designing your system.

Does the system remove water hardness?

Acuario systems are designed to retain healthy minerals in your water, so they do not function as traditional water softeners. However, they do help bring the TDS (Total Dissolved Solids) down to a healthy, balanced range. If hardness is a specific concern in your home (such as calcium buildup on fixtures or appliances), we can add a specialized filter to address it. Just let us know during your consultation.

How often does the system need to be maintained?

The electrolysis cell needs to be cleaned every 8-12 months.

How often do filters need to be replaced?

Filters need to be replaced anywhere between 3-6 months. Depending on level of usage and quality of your water.
